Steel Wool Studios is looking for an IT Specialist to keep our computer systems and network secure and current, and to support our internal users. Security, stability and ease of use is the main focus for our IT Specialist.
You will design, and guide the implementation of our computing systems from purchasing through their decommission. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of industry best practices, a strong interest in researching new technologies and processes, and is a proven professional with strong people skills.
The knowledge to build, upgrade or repair high end desktop computers is a large plus.

Salary is $75K-$90K depending on experience to start.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT operations and security within the company
Manage IT and computer systems at all levels of our operations
Lead the evaluation, implementation, and support of technology within the business
Ensure security of data, network access and help create security policies
Audit current software and hardware systems, then research, recommend, and drive improvements
Help team members increase their understanding and use of technologies
Evangelize good user behaviors, not just “what”, but “why”
Manage software licensing, delegating shared access where appropriate
Identify business challenges and develop technical solutions through automation and improving engineering practices
Occasional travel to remote company functions such as conventions
Stay abreast of the latest developments in IT technology and recommend key adoptions
Requirements
Proven working experience as an IT Specialist or relevant experience (video game industry preferred but not required)
5 or more years of experience in IT and IT management
Excellent knowledge of technical management of computer hardware/software systems
Expertise in data center management
Hands-on experience with network installation and administration
Superb communication skills, both written and verbal
Solid understanding of troubleshooting and problem analysis procedures
Occasional off-hours and weekend availability during critical development periods
Can build a computer from components a plus
Experience developing internal training of best practices
Exceptional customer service and support skills when interacting with leadership and staff
Likes video games
Preferred Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, MIS or similar field
Experience with Perforce and Unreal Engine
Extensive knowledge of current productivity, collaboration, and software development products
Experience with IT SSO systems (such as Okta)
Experience with fleet bulk purchasing methodologies
Experience with Cloud Services (Linode, AWS, Jumpcloud, Azure or similar services)
A passion for working in the video game industry or very self delusional but effective nonetheless
Confluence/Wiki experience
