The Machinist is responsible for creating quality parts produced on various machines such as, but not limited to, lathes, milling machines, and general shop equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams.
Job Duties
Study and interpret drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, and materials for the job and setup requirements
Set up and program CNC machinery as necessary
Set-up and program EDM wire machinery as necessary
Set up machining equipment utilized by the organization in order to ensure equipment operations are at accepted standards for the type of tooling being used
Provide verification dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments
Ensure work piece dimensions and correct and established to tolerance criteria
Measure, examine, and test completed parts, identifying defects and ensuring conformance to specifications and blueprints
Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining
Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, within capabilities, controls, or control media as required to ensure quality of production
Fit and assemble machined metal parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
Familiar to 3D Cad software i.e.) Key Creator, and Mastercam
Knowledge with GD & T (Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning)
Performs other duties as required
Work Conditions
Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection etc.
Overtime as required

Qualifications
High School Diploma
Must Have Certificate of Qualification for Machinist or 8 years of relevant experience
Min. 1 year working experience in CNC/EDM programming and operation
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a busy environment
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Able to work well under pressure
Strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and improve dies
Good understanding of presses and how they affect die performance and part quality
