Security Clearance
An active security clearance at the Secret level, or the ability to obtain a clearance, is required. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for security clearances and only U.S. citizens will be considered for this position.
Overview
You will work to develop new generations of sensing and real-time processing and actuation technologies in a fast-paced and exciting environment. General daily tasks will include designing and possibly fabricating test equipment, assembling components, and assisting engineering design teams in developing and conducting internal and external tests. You will also help design, prototype, assemble, and maintain UAS for cUAS testing. Typical testing activities could require hands-on work with explosives and explosive devices. Other tasks will include assisting with parts selection, purchasing, shipping, and overseeing outside contractors. In addition, you will help maintain shop, assembly, and testing areas and manage the maintenance of company vehicles and other vehicles used as experimental platforms including HMMWVs, MRAPs, Strykers and similar.
Skills

Strong verbal skills and basic math ability required
Use of hand tools and measurement equipment required
Experience or willingness to learn basic machine tools (mill, drill press, lathe, band saw, grinder, etc.) required
Excellent shop skills and knowledge of safety practices required
Experience designing for and printing on 3D printers required
Experience maintaining and managing a 3D print farm preferred
Experience designing, updating, tuning, maintaining, and flying UAS required
Ability to read drawings preferred
Auto maintenance experience preferred
General laboratory and/or test range experience preferred
Explosives experience or willingness to learn preferred
CNC and CAM experience preferred
Computer Skills: Should be comfortable with standard PC programs (Word, PowerPoint, email, etc.) Experience with a CAD program such as SolidWorks is a strong plus
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position works in a shop setting approx. 50% of the time and at a desk in an office setting approx. 50% of the time.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hours of work are M-F, 9:00 – 5:30 with some flexibility. One half hour unpaid lunch, with some flexibility.
Physical Demands
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance on a ladder at heights up to 10 ft. The employee will be required to work outdoors occasionally in all weather conditions. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds, with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel
Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
Education and Experience
Associate’s degree/trade school degree or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Prior military experience is a plus.
