We are seeking a dedicated and professional Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position plays a critical role in overseeing nursing care activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing high-quality care to residents in a long-term care setting.

As an RN, you will assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing the daily operations of the nursing department, developing and maintaining policies and procedures, and ensuring that all nursing staff adhere to established protocols. This role also involves participation in quality assurance programs, care planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure residents receive the best care possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative Functions

• Support the Director of Nursing Services in managing day-to-day nursing operations.
• Develop, maintain, and update policies and procedures governing nursing services.
• Ensure nursing reference materials, manuals, and protocols are current and accessible.
• Prepare written and oral reports and recommendations for the Director of Nursing Services.
• Coordinate nursing services with other departments to maintain continuity of resident care.
• Participate in facility surveys and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Personnel Management

• Ensure adequate staffing levels of licensed nurses and nursing assistants for all shifts.
• Assign and delegate tasks to nursing staff to ensure quality care delivery.
• Conduct rounds to ensure staff compliance with standards and report findings to the Director.
• Monitor staff performance, absenteeism, and adherence to dress codes.
• Participate in employee evaluations, disciplinary actions, and recommendations for training.

Nursing Care

• Direct, supervise, and provide hands-on nursing care, including starting IVs, collecting lab specimens, and monitoring vital signs.
• Conduct daily rounds to evaluate resident conditions and ensure care plans are followed.
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, and families to plan and update care plans.
• Ensure accurate documentation of nursing care, medications, and treatments.

Committee Participation

• Attend and contribute to committees, such as Infection Control, Quality Assessment, and Care Planning.
• Implement recommendations from committee meetings to improve nursing services.

Staff Development

• Assist in planning and conducting in-service training and educational programs.
• Keep nursing staff informed of updates in nursing practices and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure all nursing staff are appropriately trained in safety and infection control procedures.

Safety and Infection Control

• Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
• Monitor the cleanliness and sanitation of nursing service areas.
• Ensure proper use and disposal of personal protective equipment.

Care Plan and Assessment

• Participate in developing comprehensive care plans tailored to individual resident needs.
• Ensure care plans are consistently updated and accurately implemented by staff.
• Monitor resident care outcomes and recommend adjustments as needed.

Equipment and Supplies

• Ensure adequate stock of medications, supplies, and equipment to meet resident needs.
• Participate in the maintenance of nursing equipment and recommend replacements or repairs as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least 2 years of experience, preferably in a long-term care facility.
• Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices is highly desired.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities with the capacity to work harmoniously with diverse teams.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Knowledgeable in nursing and medical practices, regulatory requirements, and quality care standards.
• Proficient in documenting and maintaining resident care records.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.

Certifications and Licenses

• Must hold a current and valid RN license in KS, in good standing.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and residents as necessary.
• Requires patience, tact, and the ability to handle emotionally challenging situations with professionalism.
• Must demonstrate a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm to foster a positive care environment.
