POSITION OVERVIEW:

Globe Content Studio works with the country’s top brands to tell award-winning stories that resonate with their target audiences. From podcasts to video, photo essays to immersive interactives, on- and off-platform, it aims to exceed client objectives.

Joining the content-marketing division of The Globe and Mail requires a passion for excellence and an unwavering commitment to innovating in a fast-paced, dynamically evolving industry. The team of content strategists, creatives and analysts are seeking a social media and insights strategist who is a self-starter, and who is able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

This hands-on role is a crucial strategic pillar of the Studio, requiring an ability to consistently meet and exceed distribution goals for Sponsor Content initiatives while enabling clients to benefit from our reach within several relevant categories (primarily business/finance, but also lifestyle and technology). The successful candidate will be comfortable appealing to various audiences across social and search platforms with the strategic skills to program and monitor paid programming.

This role also includes analyzing and communicating data related to content campaigns, contributing to reports and compiling benchmarks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Program paid-social and paid-search promotion for all Globe Content Studio campaigns across platforms such as Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok and others, tracking spend, performance and engagement.
• Work with content strategists and ad studio to collect assets and post creative. Hit objectives within budget and reach intended audiences to deliver successful outcomes to clients.
• Actively monitor all campaigns for pacing and delivery to minimize errors, recommend optimizations and contribute analysis to mid- and post-campaign reporting.
• Collaborate with other marketing, social and digital departments across The Globe and to streamline resources, event-tracking, measurement and data integrations while ensuring legal/security compliance.
• Work closely with media strategy team to align social tactics with overarching content goals, sharing best practices on media buying, campaign objectives, platform differences and cost/ROI projections.
• Leverage dashboards in Tableau, Chartbeat, Amplitude and social accounts for big-picture content insights (categories, audience behaviours).
• Monitor social media channels regularly for any relevant platform changes, drafting one-pagers/message templates, providing guidance to the Studio and broader advertising team. Keep track of trends and key influencers to share with team.
• Manage @globecontent’s organic presence across channels such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and more, growing followers and producing posts that highlight the Studio’s best work to fellow marketers and brands.
• Manage or assist with Globe Content Studio’s wider brand-building initiatives such as the monthly marketing newsletter, annual trend report, live events and more.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Post-secondary degree in marketing, journalism or communications.
• Minimum three to five years of work experience.
• Highly experienced with paid-social, paid-search and general media planning/media buying.
• Thorough understanding and fluency around all social media platforms and a willingness to work across multiple platforms and tools, including generative AI.
• A background in custom content, design and verbal/written skills are assets.
• Experience with Tableau, SQL and data visualization and analysis are assets.
• Ability and eagerness to learn new data and content distribution technologies.
• Strength in sales support and client management.
• Embraces heavy workloads while maintaining quality.

SALARY: The base salary for this role ranges from $90,000 to $100,000 per year. Placement within this range depends on a candidate’s level of experience, technical skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements. Candidates who have been identified as meeting the role’s requirements can expect to be near the midpoint of this range, while the upper end is reserved for those with specialized expertise or a strong track record of success in comparable roles.  This role may also be eligible for The Globe’s Annual Incentive Plan, which is based on a combination of company and individual performance.
